What else has she been up to?

Not all of Kayla's creations are as photographic as they are delicious!

Over the holidays, she created:

Striped Delight - a divine combination of Oreo cookies, chocolate pudding, a sweet cream cheese blend and Cool Whip.

Peanut Butter Fudge Cake - this popular dessert first created at the request of a client was ordered for TWO New Year's Eve parties.

Crispy Peanut Butter Balls - given out as holiday gifts

Kayla's Cookies & Crumbs is thriving thanks to your amazing support & encouragement -- remember Kayla's Cookies & Crumbs for your next special occasion. She'll create a memorable dessert for you to share.

Baseball Cookie Cakes

Challenge: Create a baseball cookie cake for your little brother!
Kayla's solution: Kayla baked TWO of her layered chocolate chip cookie cakes -- both with milk chocolate frosting. On one, she created a baseball field and used stand-up players to fill the bases for a homerun with Colin! On the other, she created the image of a baseball.
Reaction: Party-goers were so excited to have one of "Kayla's cakes" (and were very protective of it while they played ball. Very little was left after 11 9-year-old boys devoured their pieces.

Basketball Birthday Cake

Challenge: One of Kayla's "regulars" came to her once again with a fun challenge: "Coach loves your cookie cakes, so please make one for him for his birthday."
Kayla's Solution: Her signature chocolate chip layer cookie cake with milk chocolate filling. The top is tie-dyed frosting with 3-D basketballs and a spider since it was from the team.
Response: Coach loves these cakes so much that he ordered one for his wife!
"It was a big hit today...we shared it with team after practice and it was > gone in 5 mins! Everyone loved it:-)

New Year's Cookie Cake

Kayla's Challenge: Create a cookie cake in celebration of the new year.
Kayla's Solution: A chocolate chip cookie cake with a clock just about to strike midnight. The clock face features images of baby new year and champagne glasses.

Snowman Cookie Cake

Kayla's Challenge: Now one of Kayla's signature items, Kayla was hired to create a winter-theme cookie cake.

Kayla's Solution: Kayla baked a chocolate cookie cake and decorated it with a whimsical snowman.

University of Richmond Spiders Cookie Cake

Challenge: Kayla was hired by the University of Richmond Spiders Women's Basketball Assistant Coach* to create a "Get Caught in the Web" cookie cake.
Kayla's Solution: Kayla created her now signature double-layer chocolate chip cookie cake with milk chocolate center. The top shows a gray web with her rendition of the U of R spider.
Client's Response: So far, they've ordered two more cakes, so I'd say they're happy with her work!
"My boss has eaten most of it as he is raving about it for his 5th and 6th trip back to it on the table. He is amazed at how good it is and how rich it is…EVERYONE in the office has thoroughly enjoyed it….i invited people down to have some from the other offices…and everyone has been RAVING about it…It was a HUGE hit! I showed a few people the website with everything she has done and they are in awe"
* Also known as our neighbor, Ginny, but that title sounds much more impressive, doesn't it?

Christmas Cookies

Challenge: Kayla was hired (yet again by Zofia & Bella) to create holiday cookies as treat bag items for their combined birthday party.
Kayla's Solution: Kayla baked sugar cookies and used my Aunt Barbara's icing recipe to create these colorful concoctions.
Client's Response: "Her cookies were a hit. Everyone was impressed!" and "Bella devoured hers with gusto!"

Tie-Dye Snickerdoodle Layer Cake

Challenge: Create a cake for dad's birthday (since he never gets to taste all the cakes she makes for her customers!)
Kayla's solution: a homemade snickerdoodle cake with milk chocolate frosting between the layers and tie-dye frosting.

Holiday Cupcakes

Challenge: Girl Scouts were going carolling and needed a sweet treat to celebrate the season and their generosity of time and talents entertaining community members.

Kayla's Solution: Kayla used the Internet to research fun & cute holiday cupcake ideas and created Funfetti cupcakes with reindeer and snowmen wearing Santa's hats. Of course, m&ms make everyone happy, so she used m&ms & pretzels to adorn her designs.

3-D Sports Ball Cakes

3-D Sports Ball Cakes

Challenge: Sports-themed birthday party. Birthday Boy Lucas wanted a cake depicting his three favorite sports: baseball, soccer and basketball. The cakes also needed to be nut-free.
Kayla's Solution: three 3-D sphere layer cakes decorated as a soccer ball, a baseball, and a basketball. Each nut-free and a different flavor: chocolate, yellow & Funfetti.
Client's Response: "Lucas's cakes were fabulous, and added a nice touch to his birthday. They looked amazing and tasted great!! I would not hesitate to order from Kayla's Cookies and Crumbs in the future!"

Tinkerbell Chocolate Chip Cookie Cakes

Challenge: Kayla's client was having a Tinkerbell Birthday party with a lot of enthusiastic 8 & 9 year olds. Birthday girl (with the great first name of Kayla!) wanted a chocolate chip cookie cake with lots & lots of frosting.
Kayla's solution: A layered chocolate chip cookie cake with milk chocolate frosting sandwiched between the layers and an image of Tinkerbell on top + a second cake to be sure there was enough for everybody including Birthday Girl Kayla's family!
Client's response: Birthday Girl Kayla was so excited and LOVED her cakes!!!
Follow-up: Yumminess factor lead to another order of a Chocolate Chip Cookie cake from a neighbor who saw the baker in action.

50th Anniversary Cake for Mr. & Mrs. Marshall

Challenge: Create a cake for a small & intimate 50th anniversary luncheon. The couples loves the mountains and their favorite color is blue. Be creative - make it like a wedding cake or whatever she wants.

Kayla's Solution: Kayla worked with the couple's granddaughter to determine the design. She baked a 2-layer marble cake with "wedding white" frosting. Snow-tipped mountains appear around the edges of the cake. The top is adorned with "50" in blue with pretty white & blue hand made roses.

Client's Reaction: Their granddaugther Katelyn reports that "Wow! Kayla the cake is great. They love it."

Turkey Pumpkin Pies

Kayla found these in a magazine and decided right away they'd be part of our Thanksgiving
2008 meals. Homemade individual-sized pumpkin pies with Nutter Butters, walnuts & icing. Cute & yummy!

Go, Diego, Go! Cake

White cake with Diego graphic for Zofia's 4th birthday -- happy birthday Zofia!!!

Kayla located the graphic on the Internet, transferred the image to the cake using piping gel, and decorated with character colors.

The Review: "We had a great party and Zofia loved the cake! [Her big sister] loved it even more and snuck three pieces!!! Thanks to Kayla again! I am sharing her website with others!! I thought everything was spot on. I thought the design was great - cake was moist - icing wasn't too sweet...it was great!"
Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge Cake

Customer's Challenge: "The flavor is what is important. A regular round layer cake would be great. He loves chocolate combined with peanut butter. "
Kayla's Solution: Peanut Butter layer cake with crunchy peanut butter & chocolate filling, milk chocolate frosting topped with chocolate chips, crushed peanut butter cups and drizzled with chocolate peanut butter.
The Review: "The cake was fabulous. It was the perfect blend of peanut butter and chocolate, and the perfect amount of sweetness!! Our neighbor also had a piece and she called me to say how wonderful it was. Thanks so much! "

"Bubbles, Bears & Books"

These two quarter-sheet cakes were made for an annual Girl Scout event in honor of Juliette Gordon Lowe's birthday (the founder of GS.) The activity is called "Bubbles, Bears & Books;" hence the bubbles and bears!
One cake is chocolate, the other is yellow, and both were nut-free.
The event coordinator said: "it was definitely the hit of the day. Everyone was talking about how adorable and professional it was and of course it was mighty tasty."
